Biography

Mr. Shawn Garner is the managing partner of Deason Garner Law Firm. Mr. Garner focuses in the area of Long-Term Care Planning, Living Trusts, and Probate Administration.

Prior to joining the firm, he practiced in the area of commercial litigation and bankruptcy law.  Mr. Garner joined the firm with the goal of assisting people achieve the peace of mind that comes with knowing their affairs are in order. “I enjoy helping clients take advantage of planning so their assets can be passed to their heirs and loved ones without the time, expense and headache associated with the probate process”.

He also hosts a weekly radio show on 560 AM KBLU and writes a monthly Estate Planning column in The Yuma Sun. He is a frequent speaker at public seminars covering the various aspects of Estate Planning and Long-Term Care benefits available through Medicaid.

Mr. Garner is a member of the Arizona State Bar Association and admitted to practice in the Federal District Court of Arizona.  He also participates regularly as a member of the Arizona Medicaid Planning Council; the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA), and WealthCounsel.  He is also a VA Accredited Attorney.

Mr. Garner was awarded his Juris Doctorate from the University of Kentucky Law School in 2008.  He graduated in the top 1% of his class at Colorado State University where he earned his undergraduate degree with a double major in both Political Science and Criminal Justice.  He also holds an Associate’s degree from Arizona Western College.

He is a fully accredited and licensed financial advisor and a principal Partner of WealthCare Financial.  WealthCare is an advisory firm that offers financial planning, estate planning, insurance planning, and tax planning under one umbrella.

Mr. Garner was born in Salt Lake City, Utah and raised in Sandpoint, Idaho. He first moved to Yuma in 2001 where he married Yuma native, Brittany Lundgreen Garner.  He and his wife, have six children. He is a sports fan and enjoys camping, mountain biking and boating with his family. In addition being active as a leader in his church youth groups and local Boy Scout Troop, he volunteers monthly to teach courses at the Yuma/San Luis Prison.
