Jim was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 1999, at which time he began practicing in oil and gas transactional law. Jim subsequently worked in general practice (criminal law; business litigation; uncontested probate; real estate); and in litigation (Federal communication theft before Federal courts), before returning to oil and gas law in 2004, upon which time he focused on mineral title. More recently, Jim assisted in litigation involving breach of contract, wrongful ejectment, and wrongful denial of surface access; and researched questions of law such as whether offshore environmental obligations survive bankruptcy.
After relocating to his hometown of Tucson in October of 2015, Jim was admitted to the Arizona Bar in January of 2016. Since his admission to the Arizona Bar, Jim has practiced in criminal defense, business contracts, wills and probate, and environmental consulting.
Jim is a graduate of the 2016 Arizona College of Trial Advocacy.
In January of 2020, Jim joined the firm of Law Offices of John K. Hilton PLC. Jim will continue practicing the same areas of law, including probate, which complements John Hilton’s focus on estate planning.
