Biography

 

Candyce "Candy" Pardee, a native Arizonan and a former teacher, has practiced in the area of education law since 1983. Her Martindale Hubbell Peer Review Rating is AV Preeminent. Ms. Pardee formerly served as the Chief Deputy of the Gila County Attorney’s Office and as a Deputy County Attorney with the Cochise County Attorney’s Office. She developed a unique knowledge of the legal problems facing rural school districts after representing all of the Gila and Cochise County districts during the course of her employment with those counties. As a former prosecutor, Ms. Pardee also handled matters as diverse as failure to attend/failure to send truancy matters to child victimization through physical and sexual abuse.

Ms. Pardee provides daily advice and assistance to the firm’s education law clients throughout the state on matters as varied as student disciplinary hearings, personnel issues, contract reviews, student records requests, governing board liability and open meeting issues. She represents and defends educational institutions in administrative and court proceedings. Ms. Pardee has defended school districts in election law challenges, including successfully defending a challenge to an override election before the Arizona Supreme Court.

Ms. Pardee has authored numerous opinions on education law which have been adopted by the Arizona Attorney General. She has lectured extensively to teachers and administrative personnel on various aspects of education law and has been a regular presenter at the Arizona School Boards Association annual Legal Perspectives Conference.

Ms. Pardee has twice received the Law Related Education award from the Arizona State Bar Association. She served as Regional Director for the Student Mock Trial program while in Gila County and as an attorney coach in the Mock Trial program for two years at Buena High School in Sierra Vista and for one year at San Luis High School in San Luis, Arizona.
